SEiD, SONG &
THE POWER OF THE VOICE
27 FEB - 1 March 2026
Bôle, Switzerland
By reviewing historic sources, discussing various theories, and gaining first-hand experience, you will gain a broad understanding of how to use the ancient Nordic form of magic of Seid in modern times, and develop your own Seid skills through singing and voice work.
With Inger Johanne Tromborg Syverud and Lindy-Fay Hella (Wardruna)
Renewing ancient traditions for today.
In Norse mythology, it was the Norns who spun the thread of life, not only for humans, but also for the Aesir. The thread of life was something that was spun, a string or rope that could be sent away or pulled to one's wishes. There are theories that seid is about spinning, sending, attracting and manipulating this spirit string.
Seid can be used to work with the threads of life, achieve visions, healing and new personal insights. Seid is performed intuitively through longer durational singing, putting the seer in a trance.
There are two main types: power seid and divination. These two can be further divided into two subgroups, which are solo-seid and group-seid. We will also explore fearless, high singing, where you project your thoughts out for a given purpose.
Chosen for her by the Father of Hosts
arm rings and neck rings
She received for her wise knowledge
and her staffs of divination
She saw widely
and widely over all the worlds of kin
~ Vǫluspá, stanza 29
