drum workshop exploring rhythm, ritual, trance, and embodied practice.
People, like drums, are different, and we have our own unique rhythm and energy when we play the drums, whether alone or in a group. Drumming isn't just about hitting the skin; it's about collaboration, both with your own drum as with the others in the circle. Learn to channel and feel the power that flows with the beats, a rhythmic journey where we connect to the energy and let go and "let play".
For centuries, the drum's resonant voice has captivated hearts, stirring emotions ranging from serene tranquility to ecstatic trance. This workshop offers a unique opportunity to delve into the soul of this mystical instrument. It's a call to those wanting to explore their inner rhythm and forge a deeper connection with themselves through the powerful, rhythmic pulses of the drum. We will dive into different rhythms, both ancient and modern. Learn diverse styles and techniques from Scandinavia to the Middle East, using sticks, hands and fingers. All to help you know the deep well of possibility contained with in your instrument. We will work on our beats together in the whole group, play games, and discuss drumming throughout history.
Jacob Hee Lund, with many years of experience as a professional drummer in bands such as Virelai and Heilung, will teach techniques for exploring the drum as an instrument and for finding your own rhythms.
Together, Jacob and Inger invite you into an immersive exploration of the drum as both instrument and ritual tool, sharing ways of working with rhythm to shift awareness and deepen connection.
Join us on the land of Cae Mabon, Wales, to drum, journey, and listen for the living rhythms.
